Hard to keep quiet

It is very hard to read the posts on the forums and not put in some sort of reply. People are complaining the GPG is dumbing down SupCom 2 because of the changed economy and various other reasons that I honestly don't know where they are getting their info from.

One of the guys I share an office with has a standing daily game that he plays with our balance designer. In watching them play I can honestly say this game is shaping up to be more fun than Forged Alliance. It is faster paced, with the action being centered around combat, not some intricate economy system. The entire games pace and feel are being changed daily based on playtime feedback, so anything you saw at GamesCom or PAX has completely changed now.

So, when you read the doomsayers' posts about how this game is going to suck because of the "dumbed down" economy or because it is not going to have [insert feature here] just remember, there are probably quite a few things going into the game that has not been announced yet. It is what is going into the game that is going to make it succeed, not what isn't going in.

I'm a HUGE fan of TA and of Supcom/FA, yet I for one think this new economic system is a very smart move and will only ADD to the strategic depth of the game. These so-called 'purists' are just whiners who think they know what's best for everyone else. I also don't see why a game cannot be both commercially successful AND deep and rewarding: they are certainly NOT mutually exclusive!

The more I think about it, with the way the rate based economy works in FA the economy changes in SupCom 2 should make the game play exactly the same, because of the way units take longer to build when you don't have resources (assuming it's a linear decrease in build power/mass).

Is this true?

what about the people who really like forged alliance gameplay and just want the new technical features promised in scII like new path finding etc?

will there be a forged alliance mode?

If there won't be an official FA mode then the community will probably create one I guess.

I totally agree,

there were so many complaints about SupCom2 and what people saw was just pre-alpha.
I totally have faith in you guys at GPG and I always enjoy reading your blog.
I guess SupCom2 will be great and thx for your very interesting posts.

Why keep quiet? Why not just post? Have your bosses given you any restrictions on what you can and cant say, or what kind of posts you can make on the forums?

At the risk of upsetting the echo chamber, I'm not all that excited about the econ changes, I don't think Supcom2 will suck though, I'm just worried it will grow stale faster. I trust your assessment though, and will at least give it a try, thanks for being communicative.
